Whether it is the helping us feed 250 soldier, sailors, airmen and marines in recovery at Balboa Hospital at one of our many Wounded Warrior events; OR helping us support High School Seniors at each of our Chula Vista High Schools with scholarships, Boys & Girls State government learning camp; OR supporting one of our many Veterans causes; OR helping us in our outreach efforts supporting children in need, sports, city and community endeavors, etc. etc. The American Legion was chartered and incorporated by Congress in 1919 as a patriotic veterans organization devoted to mutual helpfulness. It is the nation’s largest veterans service organization, committed to mentoring and sponsorship of youth programs in our communities, advocating patriotism and honor, promoting a strong national security, and continued devotion to our fellow servicemembers and veterans. Anyone that knows Chula Vista Post 434 knows that every penny we receive from our membership dues, to our many meals served, to our activities, to our donations and more all help sustain our ability to live up to the American Legion's Four Pillars of Service: Veterans Affairs and Rehabilitation, National Security, Americanism and Children & Youth.
